We invite you to join us at the Modulor Gallery and re-experience the atmosphere of JAB 2023 while we wait for the summer and JAB2025.
Exhibition duration: 29.04. – 24.05.2025, Modulor Gallery – CKT
Exhibition opening: 29.04.2025 at 7:00 p.m.
Merging science and art, the exhibition analytically, creatively and critically examines the practices of creating a place and belonging to a community; narratives about street heritage; the meanings of island silences, voids, smells and noises, and, the key island theme: the impact of tourism on the development of space, island temporalities and community building. At the exhibition, you will learn about the history of Jelsa, the intimacy of hidden gardens, the hopes of residents, but also get the opportunity to symbolically map your own street.
The research was conducted by the authors of the exhibition: Marina Blagaić, Pavel Gulin Zrnić, Josipa Slaviček, Juraj Šantorić and Šime Vukman, combining knowledge from ethnology and cultural anthropology, architecture, urban planning, geography and philosophy. The artistic interpretation of the archival research and recorded interviews with the street’s inhabitants was created in their works by: Željko Beljan, Hugo Baranger, Andrej Beštak and Anja Leko, Folkestone Fringe (UK), Luana Lojić, Rebecca Merlić and Anica Lora Nižić.
